As a runner, almost ALL of the exercise that I do is in some way a compliment to my running. A week in the life (during half marathon training) looks something like this:
Monday : 3-6 miles, core work
Tuesday: Rest or XT
Wednesday: 5-8 miles and a Yoga for Runners class that university rec. offers. When they don’t hold it, I do some sun salutations on my own and call it good.
Thursday – another 3-6 miles and Pilates in the evening.
Friday – XT day. The elliptical and I have a secret love affair – this is our day together. Also, upper body weights
Saturday- Long run – anywhere from 6-15 miles depending on milage demands.
Sunday- 3-4 shake out miles and weights or 30 Day Shred.

Wow, your workout plan is inspiring! I rarely run over 4 miles, I admire people who can do long runs. Did it take you a while to work up to it?

Oh, it definitely did – I did cross country in HS and that was my first taste of long runs (sometimes we’d do 6-7 miles on Friday if we didn’t have a weekend meet). I’ve been training for races since freshman year of college and it’s been so empowering to run those long runs.
